Pacific

Behind the bridge of the Americas the Panama Kanal ends in the Pacific.

The Pacific Ocean is the largest of the Earth´s oceanic divisions. It extends from the Arctic in the north to the Southern Ocean in the south, bounded by Asia and Australia in the west, and the Americas in the east.

The Pacific covers an area of 63.8 million square miles and it is significantly larger than Earth´s entire landmass, with room for another Africa spare. It contains 161 million cubic miles -- more then half of all water on earth.

The lowest known point on earth-the Mariana Trench-lies 35,797 ft below sea level. Its average depth is 14,000 ft.
