For the next three days, the forecast promises westerly winds with a northerly component, a precious little weather window, giving us the perfect opportunity to sail south.

With mixed feelings, we are leaving the wild, rugged and captivating Shetland Islands behind today. We say goodbye to dramatic coastlines, towering cliffs, vast open landscapes and that wonderfully remote, untamed atmosphere that has accompanied us throughout our stay. The air is crisp and cool, the skies ever-changing, and dark clouds and lively showers sweep across the islands - quintessential Shetland weather.

But now it is time to hoist the sails and set a southerly course! We are taking advantage of this favourable weather window and heading towards the east coast of Great Britain. Ahead of us lie many nautical miles, open waters and the excitement of discovering new shores.

And, perhaps most of all, we are looking forward to something we have seen far too little of this summer: warmer days, milder air and, hopefully, a little more sunshine.
