The clearance process was well-organized: The health, immigration, and customs officials are located in one room, about 30 steps from the dinghy dock. The officials are very friendly, and everything was completed in just 15 minutes.
Now that we are officially in the country, we take a short dinghy tour around the marina.
The luxury marina Port St. Charles is located on the west coast of Barbados in the parish of Saint Peter near Heywoods and Speightstown. Covering an area of 1549 qm, exclusive villas, condos, and apartments are arranged around a small lagoon. This lagoon has a depth of 4.26 m at low tide. Residents have the opportunity to anchor their yachts near their vacation accommodations. The berths are suitable for boats ranging from 9.14 m to 33.53 m in length and offer water, electricity, telephone, and television connections. Additionally, there are six mega-yacht berths on the offshore breakwater designed by Canadian architect HCCL.
The marina also features a helipad for guests needing transportation to Grantley Adams International Airport or Bridgetown Heliport. There is also a spa, and offshore lies the Tom Snooch Reef.
There is no space for visiting yachts in this marina, especially none that we could afford. So, SuAn anchors offshore in the open sea. However, we are allowed to use the dinghy dock for free.
