This passage leads from Gizo in the Solomon Islands to Pohnpei in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). The distance is more than 900 nautical miles. The course is almost exactly to the North. This passage crosses the calms, an extended area close tot he equator where seldom is any wind. This requires a lot of patience of a crew of a sailing vessel, or lots of engine hours and fuel.
