After three full days on sea and a very restful night at anchor in the little Tonga Bay we are ready to explore the area on foot.

Tonga Bay is part of the huge Tasman Bay in the North of New Zealand´s South Island with the city Nelson in the center of the Tasman Bay. Tonga Roadstead (Bay) is also part of Abel Tasman National Park, one of New Zealand´s tourist destinations. Visitors enjoy the many hiking tracks over hills and beaches and up to the 1100 m (3400ft) tall mountains with DoC huts and camp sites to do multiple day hikes. Water taxis arrive from Nelson and bring day tourists to the many golden beaches of the park. It is beautiful in a different way from Fiordland.

We are not alone anymore. Several sailing yachts are anchoring just around us.
