The public bus takes us to the little village Maraa in the fare most southwestern corner of Tahiti. A little hike later we arrive at the entrance of a huge cave with the name Ana-Vai-pori. The cave is completely filled with water. Freshwater! During the next few moments we inverse the human evolution over thousands of years and become cave men (Homo Grottto, or so) again. Like our brothers and sisters in the stone age, who off course could not read, we ignored the big red sign board, which says in several languages ”No swimming”. We simply can not resist and dive in the refreshing cool and super clear water. Deeper and deeper we are swimming in to the cave and it becomes darker and darker. Soon we hardly can see anything anymore. Just the entrance is glowing in bluish light. So it is easy to find our way back.
