We approach our destination, the island Attu, from Southwest. There is no wind anymore and Mr. Yanmar is helping us to push the vessel forward.

In the morning of our 12th day on passage we can see the contours of Attu´s mountains. There it is the most western island of the Aleutian chain. A little later we can clearly see the impressive mountains; the summits are hidden in thick clouds. Snowfields are reaching still down to sea level. In order to give us the most scenic view, even the sun comes out and put the mountain in a warm glow. We are deeply impressed and very excited.

Next we steer SuAn through the scattered rocks in the entrance to the Massacre Bay to the small and well protected Casco Bay. Here we drop our anchor. We have happily arrived in Alaska.
