| The Custom House was designed by James Gandon and completed in 1791, originally serving as Dublin Port’s main customs collection building. During the Irish War of Independence in 1921 the building was set on fire; the interior and the dome were heavily damaged, many records lost. It was rebuilt in the 1920s. |
