As planned, we reach the anchorage of Campbeltown at 10:00 a.m., on the eastern side of the Kintyre peninsula. We already arrived here last year and therefore know what to expect. The lighthouse on the small offshore island of Davaar Lighthouse marks the southern entrance to the bay.

We are not planning to go ashore in Campbeltown this time, as we want to continue north without delay. First, however, we need to clear into the United Kingdom with the British authorities.

The process turns out to be pleasantly straightforward. Before our departure, we had already submitted our travel itinerary, boat and crew details, as well as the ETA tourist authorization online via the UK Border Force website. From the anchorage, a simple phone call to the UK Border Force is enough to report our arrival in Campbeltown. We are then allowed to lower the Q flag — officially, we have arrived in the United Kingdom.
