Since our last anchor stop at Pulau Tenggol we have been sailing for 48 hours beating the wind. Crossing the South China Sea includes also crossing the main shipping line between China and Singapore. More than 45 big ships have been shown in our AIS and we had to carefully navigate through the dense ship traffic.

In the early morning hours we arrive in the Indondesian Anambas Island Group. All around us we see lots of bright flood lights from the floating fishing devices. In the first dawn we realize, that many of those huge bamboo constructions are towed back home by the fishing vessels.

The Anambas Islands belong to the Riau Island Group, which are also extending to the south of Singapore. Here 255 islands and islets are part of the Anambas. 29 islands are inhabited with a total population of 60,000. Lots of coral reefs are growing in that area.

Our destination today is the capital of Anambas, Tarempa, a 12,000 people town on the island Siantan.
