Rathlin Island, the only inhabited offshore island of Northern Ireland, lies just six miles from the mainland and marks the country´s northernmost point. Though small—only about 15 square kilometers—it holds outsized importance due to its rich history, striking landscapes, and ecological value.

With a population of around 150, the island has transitioned from a traditional fishing and farming economy to one centered on tourism and conservation. Rathlin is a haven for seabirds, including puffins and razorbills, drawing nature lovers from around the world.

In 1898, it became the site of one of Marconi’s first successful wireless telegraphy experiments, linking it to the dawn of global communication.
