During the last days we have a depression sitting right above us. Like any well mannered depression would typically do, it presents us with plenty of rain and strong wind. We tolerate this lousy weather and pretend that it does not bother us at all. In the large „Kaimanawa Forest Park“ we found in the middle of the forest, on a clearing next to a scenic stream, a free campsite with the name „Waikoko Campground“. Despite the rain we take extended hikes on well maintained tracks through this mountainous forest. We like it here so much that we decided to stay another night.

Before the ugly depression continues its path to the East in order to make space for the following High it gets even a little more ugly and conveys, as a crowning final, icy cold air from the Antarctica our way. The temperature drops down to 39 degree Fahrenheit (4 degree Celsius). During the night we need not only the bedcover, but additionally the sleeping bags. We cuddling together and locking forward to tomorrow when finally the High-pressure system, moving in from the Tasman Sea, will rule the weather.
