Yesterday morning we left the dock in Kushiro. Seki-San was so kind and came with a nice present to say fare well. Now it is time for us to leave Japan, a country and friends we will never forget.

The wind yesterday was light to moderate from behind and we sailed wing to wing to the North-East. We have to keep a large distance to Hokkaido´s shoreline since there are numerous fishing nets stretching 4 nautical miles in to the open sea.

Today Lutz is a little frustrated since the latest weather report we have received over HF radio does not agree anymore with the predictions. The predicted nice sailing wind is replaced by no wind at all for two days. So, we have no choice, but to motor through this period. The current is not to our favor. The Kamchatka Current is pushing with about one knot against us.

Meanwhile the rain has stopped. The thick fog is still there. We can only navigate by radar and AIS.

Slowly we are getting cold. Lutz is using the calm weather to try to find out why our worm water heating system does not work.
